A vehicle-pedestrian accident Wednesday in Juniata County caused minor injuries for an area man. The incident occurred at 11:00 am on Route 235 in Fayette Township. According to State Police, a Dodge Caravan driven by 73-year-old Robert Heister of McAlisterville struck 47-year-old John Landis of Thompsontown as Landis was walking along the roadway. Heister transported Landis to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for treatment.
A resurfacing project on Route 22 in Juniata County is scheduled to begin Monday (September 17th). PennDOT says the project covers approximately two miles of roadway in Walker and Delaware townships. The work zone begins east of Thompsontown and continues to the Perry County line. Work will include resurfacing the existing roadway plus drainage improvements and miscellaneous construction. On Monday, crews will close the right (travel) lanes eastbound and westbound to survey. Once survey work is complete, there will be a traffic switch and long-term single lane closures will be in effect for the passing lanes, eastbound and westbound. The project is expected to be complete by November.
