PennDOT has issued an update on its Monument Square project in Lewistown. A detour will be implemented on Monday, October 21 as the contractor begins installation of a crosswalk on Water Street. The road will be restricted to a single lane between Main and Brown Streets. Water Street will be open only to westbound traffic heading toward Route 22. Eastbound traffic heading toward Dorcas Street will turn left at the intersection of Water and South Main streets and follow a detour using South Main Street, Market Street and Brown Street. This detour also impacts southbound traffic on South Main Street, which has been utilizing Water Street as part of its detour during a bridge replacement project that started in early June. An alternate detour will be open starting Monday. PennDOT anticipates completing the crosswalk in approximately two weeks.
