At a special meeting of the Mifflin County Commissioners on Monday, small businesses in the county were urged to explore applications to the COVID-19 Relief Statewide Small Business Assistance program. Funds are from the federal CARES Act appropriations passed by Congress and signed by the President in March. The statewide program is to reimburse small businesses for losses and expenses incurred because of COVID-19. Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000, depending on the size of the business, the losses incurred, the location in a Keystone Community that includes Lewistown, Derry and Granville Townships. The applications in the first round will be accepted starting today (June 30th) through July 14th. Businesses can find more information by calling Downtown Lewistown, Inc., the Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce, or at https://assetspa.org, and https://pabusinessgrants.com.
