State House Republicans elected new leaders yesterday in Harrisburg.  Representative Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) was elected speaker by the full House Monday afternoon. He replaces Mike Turzai of Allegheny County who retired from the House earlier this month.  House Republicans chose Representative Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) to serve as the next majority leader. Benninghoff has held several leadership positions within the state House, including two terms as Majority Policy Committee chairman and chairman of the House Finance and State Government committees.

 

GSK Consumer Healthcare is voluntarily recalling certain lots of children’s cold and cough medication due to the inclusion of incorrect dosing cups.  There is a potential risk of accidental overdose if caregivers do not notice discrepancies between the graduations printed on the cups and the indicated amounts to be administered.  The recall is limited to 4-ounce Children’s Robitussin® Honey Cough and Chest Congestion DM, Lots: 02177 and 02178 with expiration dates of January 2022, along with 8-ounce Children’s Dimetapp® Cold and Cough, Lot: CL 8292 with an expiration date of September 2021.

 

A Guatemalan National has been sentenced to 57 months in prison for transporting heroin.  The U.S. Justice Department says Cesar Moscoso-Sagastume admitted that he agreed to transport approximately five kilograms of heroin from Chicago to New York City.  He was stopped by Pennsylvania State Troopers on Interstate 80.  Moscoso-Sagastume will likely face deportation after serving his prison sentence.

 

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is extending its Wildlife on WiFi virtual learning campaign. The campaign was originally launched to provide parents, youth, and educators with at-home wildlife education resources during the academic year school closures.  More information is available at www.pgc.pa.gov.
