The Mifflin County School District is currently in the early stages of preparing for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has released preliminary guidelines that will guide discussions on how to safely open schools and meet physical distancing protocols. The school district is asking for your feedback to formulate a plan. An electronic survey will be sent via email on Saturday (June 20th). Responses will be collected until Tuesday, June 23rd at 3:00 pm. When active, you will be asked to complete a survey for each of your children in the school system. If you have difficulty accessing the link, visit the Mifflin County School District building Monday, June 22nd through Tuesday, June 23rd between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, and enter through the main office. A hard copy of the survey will be provided.
For a limited time, the American Red Cross is testing all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies, providing insight into whether donors have been exposed to coronavirus. There is an urgent need for blood donations as hospitals resume surgeries and treatments. Antibody testing will indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to coronavirus, regardless of whether they developed symptoms. A positive antibody test result does not confirm infection or immunity. COVID-19 antibody test results will be available within seven to ten days in the Red Cross Blood Donor App or donor portal at https://www.redcrossblood.org/.
