A Huntingdon man has been arrested in connection with a Christmas Day fire.  Huntingdon County District Attorney Dave Smith said Joshua French was arrested for arson, a first degree felony.  French allegedly set fire to the 12th Street residence of Huntingdon Borough Policeman Justin Franks on Christmas morning.  French’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 15th.  He was incarcerated on $250,000 bail.

The required 60-day pre-enforcement period for Pennsylvania’s statewide Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement (AWZSE) program has begun, and will last until March 4th. The program uses vehicle-mounted systems to detect and record motorists exceeding posted work zone speed limits using electronic speed timing devices.  The systems are operational in active work zones where workers are present.  PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) say once enforcement begins on March 4th, registered owners will receive a warning letter for a first offense, a violation notice and $75 fine for a second offense, and a violation notice and $150 fine for third and subsequent offenses.

Toll increases on the Pennsylvania Turnpike went into effect this past weekend.  Tolls increased six percent for cash, E-ZPass and TOLL-BY-PLATE customers.

The Red Cross bloodmobile will be in Mifflin County again today.  You can give the “Gift of Life” today at the Community Hall on Walnut Street in Belleville from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm.
