The Pennsylvania State Police seized more than $8.7-million in illegal drugs in the fourth quarter of 2019.  In total, state police seized more than $43 million worth of illegal drugs last year, including nearly 300 pounds of heroin and fentanyl.  State police also collected 830 pounds of prescription drugs and other medication in the fourth quarter of 2019, as part of its drug take-back program. There are 65 drug take-back boxes at state police stations throughout the Commonwealth, providing a safe way to dispose of unused or unwanted medication 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

 

U.S. Representative Glenn Thompson has announced his intention to seek reelection to Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District. The “Vision 2020: Building on Success” tour will begin on Friday, January 24th in Indiana County, with events throughout the next week taking Thompson to the 13 other counties that make up the 15th district.   Prior to being elected to Congress, Thompson spent nearly 30 years working in non-profit healthcare.  He is the father of a Purple Heart Wounded Warrior.   In the coming week, Thompson has more than 30 events scheduled throughout the district.

 

The American Red Cross bloodmobile will visit Mifflin County today.   There is a blood drive at the Reedsville Fire Company on Firehouse Boulevard from 1:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
