In Harrisburg Yesterday, Governor Tom Wolf vetoed the Voting Rights Protection Act (House Bill 1300). House Bill 1300 would have allowed mail-in ballots to be counted starting five days before the election, moved the last day to register to vote back to 30 days prior to an election; and required voters to receive scannable voter registration cards through their counties. House State Government Committee Chairman Seth Grove (R-York), who authored the bill, said local election officials asked for many of the corrections to the election process. The Voting Rights Protection Act would have done what election officials asked for. Grove said the governor turned a blind eye to their requests.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, Drug and Alcohol Secretary Jennifer Smith along with the Mifflin County District Attorney’s Office will hold a press conference at 12:00 noon today (July 1st) in the main courtroom of the Mifflin County Courthouse. The press conference is being held to announce the establishment of the “Law Enforcement Treatment Initiative” program in Mifflin County.
