Unofficial results are in from yesterday’s General Election.  In the Borough of Lewistown, Mayor Deb Bargo won re-election.  Larry “Heavy” Searer, Bill Wilson, and David Campbell were elected to four-year terms on borough council.  Mark Sievers and Venus Shade were elected to two-year-terms.  In Mifflin County, Deb Civitts won re-election as county treasurer.  Incumbent Barb Stringer was re-elected register and recorder.  For Mifflin County School Board, Michelle Terry, Julie Maidens, Kristen Sharp, and John Knepp won seats.  Jim Drayer, running unopposed, was elected county sheriff.  Jack Miller won another term as district judge.

In Juniata County, voters elected Joshua Stimeling as county sheriff.  Sandra King will remain county treasurer.  Alicia Seigler was re-elected register and recorder.  Jackie Leister retained her post as district judge.

In Huntingdon County, Jeffrey Leonard ran unopposed and was elected to a four-year term as Sheriff.  David Wessels won the race for Huntingdon Borough Mayor.  The results of the election are not official until certified by the board of commissioners in the respective counties.

 

Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital invites the public to attend an Oncology Symposium to discuss prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.   Participants will discuss advances in radiation and oncology, and the challenges and opportunities in rural communities.  The symposium is Thursday (November 9th) at 6:00 pm in Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital’s Classroom 4.

 

Refuse collection in the Borough of Lewistown will be altered due to the Veterans Day weekend.  Thursday and Friday routes will be picked up one day earlier.  Thursday’s route will be picked up today.  Friday’s route will be picked up Thursday.  All other days remain the same.  Friday’s recycling should be held until the next scheduled recycling day on November 24th.
