A Mifflintown woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Juniata County when she fell asleep at the wheel.  State Police say 50-year-old Mary Lauver fell asleep while traveling south on Route 35 in Fayette Township.  Her Chrysler Town & Country crossed into the northbound lane before leaving the roadway and striking a tree.  Lauver sustained injuries of unknown severity.

 

The Festival of Ice continues tonight in Downtown Lewistown.  The Chillin’ 4K Race / Walk begins at 6:00 pm at the east end of Monument Square.  Registration begins at 4:30 pm at Falkner Technologies.  The Big Band Sound presents a Christmas Concert at 7:30 pm in the Historic Courthouse.  The McCoy House Museum will be open today from 3:00 to 9:00 pm, and Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  The Lewistown Kiwanis Christmas Parade is tomorrow (Saturday, December 1st) at 1:00 pm. The Rain Date is Sunday (December 2nd).

 

The 2018 “Battle of the Morning Shows” is today (Friday, November 30th) from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in Downtown Lewistown.  The annual event between Big Lewie, Merf Radio, and Bigfoot Country benefits the local Salvation Army’s Christmas fundraising efforts.  All money raised stays in the area to help those in need.

 

Greenwood Furnace State Park and the Friends of Greenwood Furnace, Whipple Dam, and Penn-Roosevelt State Parks welcome everyone to the annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, (December 2nd) from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Visitor Center. Activities go on throughout the day, so there is something to do for all ages.  Children can visit with a Victorian Santa Claus, and enjoy the Victorian Christmas tree, decorated with many traditional ornaments typical of the 19th century. All activities and crafts are free.  Light refreshments will be available, including homemade cookies provided by the Stone Valley Community Charter School.  For more information, contact the Park Office at 814-667-1800.
