An investigation is pending after an accidental shooting in Huntingdon County.  State Police have not released the names of the people involved in the incident that took place Tuesday afternoon in the Robertsdale area.  According to an official report, the hunters were exiting the woods when the shooter attempted to clear his rifle.  The firearm discharged, striking the other hunter in the right calf.  The victim was taken to Broad Top Medical Center and subsequently transported to UPMC Altoona for further treatment.

 

The 22nd Annual Festival of Ice begins tonight in Downtown Lewistown.  This year’s theme is “Toyland.”  The Festival kicks off at 6:00 pm with the Crazy Parade from St. John’s Lutheran Church.  The Community Band performs in the Historic Courthouse on Monument Square at 7:30 pm.  For more information, contact the Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau at 717-248-6713, or visit www.juniatarivervalley.org.

 

An employee of Puff ‘n’ Snuff on West Fourth Street in Lewistown has been arrested on theft charges.  Borough Police say 36-year-old Autumn Isenberg was charged November 20th with a second-degree felony.  The owner told police, Isenberg stole more than $3,200 from the store during her employment from August through November.

 

During the final day of Pennsylvania’s statewide bear season, hunters harvested 365 bears, raising the 2018 season harvest to 1,993 – a 10 percent increase compared to last year.  Comprehensive harvest totals that include bears taken during the early and extended seasons will be released in the coming months.  During the statewide season, bears were harvested in 55 counties.  The top 10 bears processed at check stations were either estimated or confirmed to have live weights of 600 pounds or more.  The largest was a 780-pound male taken in Howe Township, Forest County.

 

The American Red Cross will be in Juniata County for a blood drive today.  The blood mobile will be at Brown’s United Methodist Church on Route 35 in McAlisterville from 1:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
