A weekend stabbing resulted in charges for a Mount Union man. Thirty-one-year-old Travis Skipper was taken into custody by State Police after an incident early Saturday morning on Poplar Street in Kistler Borough. Police received a report of a male with traumatic injuries. The 27-year-old victim was transported to an area hospital after being stabbed in the leg with a knife. Skipper was charged with aggravated assault
Representative Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) has announced more than $100,000 in Safe Schools Grants have been awarded to school districts in the 171st Legislative District. The Mifflin County School District received an Equipment Grant of $17,570. The Bellefonte Area School District received a School Police/Resource Officer Grant of $30,000. The Central PA Institution of Science and Technology was the recipient of a grant totaling $60,000. The grants assist schools in reducing unnecessary student disciplinary actions and promote a climate of greater productivity, safety and learning.
A routine traffic stop last week resulted in drug charges for an area man. Lewistown Borough Police stopped 20-year-old Colby King of Lewistown November 13th just before midnight on South Main Street. King was wanted on a warrant in Centre County. A search revealed several bags of marijuana and empty bags used for packaging. King was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to distribute.
A Duncannon man reported missing last week has been located. State Police at Newport say 33-year-old Daniel McCollum was located safe November 14th.
