Mifflin County Regional Police responded to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital Wednesday after a woman made verbal threats to the security staff.  Thirty-year-old Chelsey Meck of Lewistown was observed entering the hospital at about 7:25 pm carrying a baby and displaying a firearm in “open carry” manor.  When told the firearm was not allowed on hospital property, Meck became verbally abusive and threatened to “shoot up the place.”  Regional Police recovered a loaded 9mm pistol from Meck’s vehicle.  She was taken into custody for making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.


Some Juniata County residents were without power Monday afternoon when a tractor trailer ran over a utility pole guide wire.  The incident occurred just before 2:00 pm on Horse Valley Road in Tuscarora Township.  The driver of the flatbed rig failed to stop or notify authorities.  Anyone with information should contact State Police at Lewistown – 717-320-1010.


Drug charges await an unidentified woman after a traffic stop Tuesday night in Huntingdon County.  State Police stopped a 20-year-old female on the William Penn Highway west of River Road in Porter Township at 9:30 pm.  A vehicle search produced marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with brass knuckles.  Charges are pending.


The Juniata County Veterans Council Memorial Day parade will be held on Monday, May 29th.   The parade in Mifflintown will start from American Legion Post 298 and proceed to Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery for a Memorial Service starting at 11:00 am.  All Veterans are asked to attend the parade in uniform.  Contact the American Legion at 717-994-8735 if transportation is needed.  For additional information, contact Legion Commander Clarence Allen.


Route 4013 – Huntingdon Furnace Road – in Franklin Township will be closed today due to full-width paving.  The road will be closed from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm from the intersection of Route 350 to the intersection of Route 4015.
