Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital has announced the appointment of the first chaplain in its 110-year history. Chaplain Suellen Lewis will provide psychosocial and spiritual support to patients, their families and employees.  Before joining Geisinger-Lewistown, Lewis served in Geisinger’s Spiritual Care department in the central and northeast regions after completing her Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.  She served as an associate pastor for the Selinsgrove Church of the Nazarene from 2006-2016. The hours for chaplain services are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. To reach the chaplain’s office, call 717-242-2505.

Felony charges have been filed against a former PennDOT official who solicited and accepted bribes from at least one contractor in exchange for continued contracts with the state transportation agency.  Nicholas Martino of Norristown was charged earlier this week for accepting payments from an unidentified PennDOT contractor.  In exchange for the payments over a period of many years, Martino continued the contractor’s existing contracts with PennDOT, even when the contractor did not perform the work.   The investigation began in 2013 after a tip about corruption in PennDOT’s Southeast Pennsylvania office.  A cooperating witness gave evidence against Martino, who oversaw general maintenance and roadside management programs in his role as Assistant District Executive for PennDOT’s District Six.
