Charges of making terroristic threats were filed yesterday after an incident in Mifflintown.  State Police charged 25-year-old Felix Alberto Rodriguez-Rodriguez Sunday.  According to the report, he went to the home of another man and threatened him with a machete after an online encounter.

 

Bridge work will begin on Wednesday (July 11th) on the Route 22 – 4th Street intersection improvement project in Smithfield Township, Huntingdon County.  On Tuesday, the contractor will be closing the 4th Street Bridge to replace the expansion dams. Traffic will be detoured during the project.  Southbound traffic will take Route 26 to Route 3035 (Fairgrounds Road) to Route 22.  Northbound traffic will take Route 22 to Route 1010 (Penn Street) to Route 26.  The detour will remain in effect through mid-August.  PennDOT says all work on the project is expected to be complete by December.

Through mid-July, area drivers can expect to encounter work in several locations.  Crews will be paving Route 655 from Three Cent Lane toward Belleville and then from Byers Lane to Jacks Mountain Road in Mifflin County.  In Juniata County, paving will take place on Seven Stars Road (Route 2019) from the Perry County line to the Snyder County line, along with paving on Route 235 from East Salem to McAlisterville.

 

Police have arrested a Lewistown man and charged him with simple assault after an incident July 1st.  Lewistown Borough Police say 30-year-old Joshua Alan Marker fled the scene after assaulting a victim on South Spruce Street.  Marker was located and arrested later on North Grand Street.  He was placed in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility.

 

Representative Rich Irvin (R-Huntingdon/Centre/Mifflin) will have a veterans’ service officer from the American Legion in his district office on Wednesday, July 11th, and Wednesday, August 15th, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm to meet with area veterans and answer questions regarding benefits and services.  Meetings will take place at Irvin’s district office at 612 Pennsylvania Avenue in Huntingdon.  To schedule an appointment, call 814-644-2996.
