A Lewistown man faces assault charges stemming from an incident late last month.  Borough Police say 28-year-old James Hallums was involved in a verbal altercation June 30th on Pannebaker Avenue when he struck the victim on the arm and twice on the head with a baseball bat.  Hallums fled the scene in a vehicle.  The victim was transported for treatment of injuries.  Police arrested Hallums the next day on West Sixth Street and placed him in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility.  Charges include one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, plus aggravated and simple assault charges.  Bail was set at $60,000.

In news from Harrisburg, Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman (R-34) has repeated his pledge that the Senate stands ready to finish reforming the system by which Congressional and state legislative districts are drawn in Pennsylvania.  On June 13th, the Senate passed historic, bipartisan legislation to establish an independent redistricting commission that would be responsible for drawing the boundaries of legislative and Congressional districts.  Because the legislation would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution, it must be passed in two consecutive legislative sessions and be approved by voters in a statewide referendum.

An incident in Lewistown on June 30th has led to two men being charged with indecent exposure.  Borough Police responded to 26 Valley Street at about 5:20 am and found 25-year-old Damian Hockenberry and 29-year-old Morgan Schenker lying naked in the hallway.  Police say Schenker was under the influence of medication and on probation.  He was taken to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility on a detainer.  Officers were called back to the same location later in response to a dispute between Hockenberry and his roommate.  Hockenberry was then charged with disorderly conduct and incarcerated.
