An autopsy has been scheduled for a Thompsontown man who died sometime between December 28th and January 5th.  State Police at Lewistown say 76-year-old Hobart Steely Baker, Junior died of unknown causes at a residence on Shelley Ridge Road in Delaware Township, Juniata County.  The investigation will continue.

 

A Mount Union woman has been charged with aggravated assault after a dispute January 5th in Huntingdon County.  State Police responded to Hill Valley Road in Cromwell Township after a report of shots being fired.  According to the report, 24-year-old McKenzie Renee Waite was involved in an argument with her estranged husband about a vehicle at a body shop.  Waite fired shots into a vehicle with a small handgun before leaving the scene.  She was later taken into custody and charged, with bail set at $50,000.  Police recovered 17 shell casings from the scene.  No injuries were reported.

 

History was made recently at Pennsylvania Game Commission headquarters, when a trophy whitetail rack shattered the previous record in the Typical Archery category of state records.  Ron Shaulis, of West Newton, PA, harvested the trophy buck on October 24th with a compound bow on public land in Westmoreland County. The rack surpassed the previous record of a buck harvested in Allegheny County in 2004.  Game Commission officials say the 13-point rack was very symmetrical, and lost only 7 7/8-inches in side-to-side deductions.  The rack had 25- and 26-inch main beams.

 

From the Mifflin County School District:  The make up day from last Friday will be made up on Monday, January 15th.
