An Internet scam in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County is under investigation by the State Police.  A 70-year-old man in Mifflintown told authorities he attempted to fix a computer problem through Dell Support when an unknown third party intercepted his transaction.  During the period from November 30th to December 10th, the suspect convinced the victim he had over-credited his account attempting to make a refund.  The victim was instructed to purchase gift cards and supply credit card information, and was scammed for $6500.  Anyone with information, or those who have experienced a similar scam should contact State Police at Lewistown.

January is National Blood Donor Month, and the American Red Cross has an urgent need for blood and platelet donors of all blood types to help address a winter shortage.  Severe winter weather has had a tremendous impact on blood donations already this year, with more than 150 blood drives forced to cancel. In addition, seasonal illnesses and hectic Christmas schedules have contributed to more than 28,000 fewer donations than what was needed in November and December.  The Red Cross will collect blood at two locations in Mifflin County this week:  Today from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm at the Milroy Hose Company, and Thursday from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm at Ellen Chapel Church on Ferguson Valley Road in Lewistown.
