Authorities investigated an assault Friday night at the Festival of Ice in Lewistown.  Lewistown Borough Police say the incident took place just after 7:30 pm near KC’s Gifts and Jewelry on Monument Square.  Two juveniles were involved in a physical altercation.  The victim sustained a chipped tooth and a laceration to the lower lip.  The suspect admitted striking the victim three times before fleeing the scene.

No injuries were reported yesterday afternoon when a trailer flipped on Route 522 in Mifflin County.  Granville Township Police responded to the call at about 3:20 pm when David Dubois of Lewistown lost control of his rig.  The trailer flipped, spilling the contents onto the roadway.  PennDOT was called in to clean up the spill.

To reduce the chances of a mailbox being damaged by a snowplow this winter, PennDOT encourages homeowners in rural areas to ensure their mailbox is properly prepared.  Mailbox damage occurs primarily due to the weight of snow being removed from the roadway. PennDOT offers tips to help prevent mailbox damage this winter:  Place a 6-inch to 8-inch piece of reflective tape on the mailbox to help snow plow operators see it at night;  Remove snow from around the mailbox, but avoid throwing it back onto the road;  Make sure the mailbox post is firmly supported in the ground.  For more tips, visit PennDOT’s winter Web page at www.penndot.gov/winter.
