Pennsylvania retail theft offenses are at a five-year low, having decreased 15 percent since 2013.  Retail theft data from 2013 to 2017, including the statewide number of retail theft offenses by month can be found at the Pennsylvania Courts website.  Data also includes the top 10 counties with the highest number of retail theft offenses, and statewide defendant demographics.  A high-resolution file of the graphic is available for download at www.pacourts.us under “Media Resources.” County numbers are included at end of release.

 

Bobby Rahal Automotive Group has donated $40,000 to SoldierStrong, a national nonprofit organization that provides state-of-the-art medical devices to aid in rehabilitating returning veterans around the United States who have experienced spinal injuries.  In honor of Veterans Day, Team Rahal announced a donation would be made to SoldierStrong for every new and used vehicle sold at its central Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh region dealerships during November.  In addition, commemorative T-shirts were sold.  A Rahal spokesman said the group is proud to support the good work done by SoliderStrong because it directly improves the lives of our heroes, the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.

 

The PA Turnpike Commission (PTC) has projected that 6.3 million vehicles will travel the Turnpike during the Christmas Holiday period beginning today (Thursday, December 20th) and concluding New Year’s Day, (Tuesday, January 1st).  The PTC expects today and tomorrow to be the most heavily traveled days with 675,000 vehicles on the roadway each day.  With traveler safety in mind, the Turnpike will increase police, safety and maintenance patrols throughout the Christmas Season.
